I would study the solution to one dynamic programming problem on leetcode, feeling like I got it, then get absolutely destroyed on another dp problem. Completely blanking out. Same with other topics like sliding window, trees, graphs, etc. I would say to myself, “What’s wrong with me. I’m so dumb. I can’t do it..” I was overwhelmed. I would procrastinate opening leetcode. Making any excuses to avoid it. I hated feeling so dumb. I wasn’t retaining anything by trying to study random problems on leetcode. It was a long and frustrating road to eventually get good enough to land a job at Google in 2021. Only looking back can I say that learning DSA didn't HAVE to be so difficult. I realized it’s actually not me, it’s Leetcode. Leetcode is not the place to learn DSA. It's a place where you come to practice AFTER you have already learned everything. I would always get stuck making progress on leetcode, having to use outside videos and articles to learn. And then when I got to the next problem, I would get stuck again. The gap between problems felt so large. I wished there was a course that increased the difficulty slowly so that I didn't feel so lost from one problem to the next.
