Fast forward to today… and somehow it’s become the unofficial benchmark for AI progress. Every new video model gets asked the same question: Can it finally make Will Smith eating spaghetti look real? As ridiculous as it sounds, it’s actually a great test. Eating pasta requires realistic hands, facial expressions, lip movement, physics, timing, textures, and natural motion, all the things AI used to struggle with the most. Watching the newest versions side by side feels like watching years of progress compressed into months. What started as nightmare fuel is now getting so realistic that most people would struggle to tell the difference. It’s funny that one of the biggest milestones in AI history isn’t solving cancer or driving cars… It’s whether a guy can convincingly eat a plate of spaghetti.
