MIT's experimental Human Operator system explores what happens when Al can physically guide a person's movements. It combines a vision-language model with electrical muscle stimulation (EMS), allowing Al-generated commands to trigger stimulation around the wrist and fingers and help guide the hand through tasks in real time. The prototype was built at MIT Hard Mode 2026 and demonstrated tasks including hand gestures, drawing and playing piano. The idea is less about instantly "downloading" a skill and more about giving people physical guidance while they learn, potentially opening new possibilities for training, rehabilitation and human Ai interaction
