Nothing will make a Project Manager appreciate their superintendent faster than being a “temporary replacement.” Day 1; 7am: “Everything’s under control.” Day 1; 10:33am: 17 questions. Most of which were answered by showing the sub how to open his drawings. 2 trades threatening to walk. The Owner’s QA showed up unannounced. The drywall crew is hanging walls on the wrong side of a “one-side” Day 2; 3:45pm: The PM is googling: “Are there building code requirements for who can legally be a superintendent?” Turns out the superintendent wasn’t “just walking the site.” He was actually preventing 47 disasters a day that trailer never even knew existed.
