You finally get them to sit down in the trailer for the OAC meeting and about 47 minutes in, the phone starts buzzing. “Hey, we’ve got a conflict.” “Which dimension are we supposed to use?” “Where does this wall actually go?” “Can you come look at something real quick?” And sometimes “urgent field issue” really means walking outside and pointing at the same dimension that has been on Sheet A4.2 since ASI 2. The field doesn’t stop moving or having problems just because there’s a meeting on the calendar. And good supers know that. They’re constantly bouncing between planning ahead, solving today’s problems, and reporting back what actually happened. All while occasionally providing adult supervision to people holding a broken iPad or an actual full-size set of paper plans.
