When someone triggers you, make sure you do this first

This new girl joined the team and she started wanting to get involved in all of the projects that I had been given. And I found myself getting really annoyed at her. Internally, like, she's so annoying! Why can't she just leave my stuff alone? I had a 1 to 1 with my manager. The day after she had been really irritating me. And so I was going to go to my manager and say, look, she's really bothering me. And so have a go at her. But something told me to get a piece of paper and I just wrote down the situation, the situation is, she's taking over all of my stuff. And I was like, okay, what's the problem? What's the problem then? Problem is that I feel like I just want something of my own. So it's actually nothing to do with this girl. And it's all to do with the fact that I just want something of my own. So when I had this meeting with my manager, instead of bitching about this girl, I was able to say to her, I love this girl's enthusiasm. I think you picked somebody perfect to be part of the team. But I just wondered if it's okay for me to just have one thing that's mine that I know that I can focus on. And she completely understood. Yeah, that's fine. And I'll move her on to something else. So rather than making my manager respect me less by being really dramatic about something that really wasn't, I was able to use curiosity to challenge my critique of this person. And realized there was nothing wrong with this person, but the real problem was in the structure and what I needed. It was an easy fix.
