it's nail HOW I MAKE MY NAILS LAST FOR WEEKS it's nail day let's go through prep I'm kind of in denial that I'm almost done with Gossip it's been my nail day... Gossip girl. HOW I MAKE MY NAILS LAST FOR WEEKS it's nail day let's go through prep I don't think I've done a dedicated video on prep and if you are like me and you do your own nails and you'd like to become better at prep or if you're having troubles this video is for you Let's get into it I start with my e file in reverse my rule of thumb is that the bit is always spinning towards me while I'm dragging I typically like to drag in the direction towards the free edge of my nail I use this Melody Susie e file at 25,000 to 30,000 RPMs along with the PANA Safety Carbide bit in my Amazon storefront I just ordered two more of these babies because they're always out of stock this is the coarse bit but I've tried medium you you wanna go in with smooth even pressure don't stay on one place for too long or else you'll create you wanna you wanna go extremely light if you you don't have to get every bit of color off with this bit this bit you can go on with your sanding band later which is a little less intimidating you wanna keep the angle as parallel to your nail as possible you don't ever wanna dig into your nails I turn on my dust collector to collect the insane amount of dust that I always I always get questions on everything and I've used these for years so they are tested loved and used by me almost everything I use for prep and to do the complete process of my nails is linked my Amazon storefront under next step next step I like to do is cuticle work I just got this mini flame bit recently as a recommendation from my nail tech sister because I didn't realize just how dull my I go at like 5-6,000 RPMs super super slow super light you're really just wanting to lightly lift your cuticle so we can then gently nip the dead cuticle off and for this once I drag the e file in the opposite direction the bit is spinning not a pro on cuticle work yet but I'm slowly and we got no rings of fire over here so we're doing good I got a lot of dead cuticle it's always so satisfying to then switch to I then switch to my fine grit sanding band I get a big pack these are 240 grit I go at maybe 7-8k RPM once again just light even pressure you're just roughing up the surface you want to make sure to be more gentle on your natural nail but you do also want to gently roughen that up so that our products on to on to shaping I don't really know how to explain other than I have these nail files that are 100/180 grit I usually use the side that's less I start on the side like on the outer upper corner and then I kind of smooth it out the top I like a shape somewhere between almond and oval but it just totally depends on personal preference technically we are kind of done with prep I scrub my nails with my scrub brush and isopropyl alcohol really to get any excess kind of dehydrate them then I go in with my primer you want to make sure you get this on your natural nail but I bring whatever's left on the brush up my nail I let my primer dry for a couple of minutes and it's normal for this congratulations we are officially I'm running out but that is the full rundown on how I I'm going to include a little bit on how I apply my hard gels just right up until we go in with gel polish color designs I love the Multi Flex Builder I did recently switch over to this Akzentz Trinity hard gel because I like to keep my nails a little bit longer and I needed a slightly sturdier product the brush I'm using to apply is in my Amazon storefront but I grab a little bit of product go in with a thin layer all careful not to get too close to your skin to the point where it floods no one wants that I don't cure I grab a little bead of product drop it closer to my cuticle slowly push it to the edges while also doing a half moon motion to the free edge of my nail I smooth it all out with and cure each nail individually for 60 seconds
