What if your old computer could be an always on AI node? This would turn that old bit of scrap computer into something genuinely useful. Hit that save button. Let's get in. I wanna introduce you to something called BMASS. Bootable Model As System. The model is the system. BMASS is that new open source project where the Ai is the system. So what you're gonna do is create an 8gb USB stick with an Alpine Linux environment. On boot your computer would load a small quantized LLM. Then after login the launcher starts the model as the primary interface and you interact via natural language prompts just like a normal LLM. The model then reasons. Generates safe Linux commands and operates the computer as a safe BMASS user. By safe I mean slightly restricted. Then it captures and feeds it into its context for its next response. This grounding really reduces hallucinations, especially compared to pure generation. In standard setups the LLM runs on top of the OS. But this flips it entirely, making the AI the OS. The model is the system layer itself. It is still a prototype. It is still very early and the limitations are clear. But so is the goal. Once they have things like persistent and multimodal consensus for bigger decisions, voice integration, stuff like that, it'll get a lot cooler. The limitations are there. It has to be a small model size. You gotta do everything manually right now. But the goal is clear. And I am seriously looking forward to what this is gonna turn into. It's gonna be amazing!! It's gonna be amazing!!
