2 days ago... I somehow got stuck down this rabbit hole of people that build these crazy looking racks full of tech. At home, all in the biz of de-googling and regaining ownership of ones data. And we're about to join them. Welcome to how to homelab. So the goal of this video is to set up our lab. We can make it look pretty like this later, but alright, step one. So, you're gonna need an old laptop or spare PC or a single board server like this Zimaboard 2. Whatever you have lacks the brain. You don't need to go out and buy anything flashy, that's not the point of this. On sec. So software, I'm going to be running ZimaOS. One, it's beginner friendly, two, it's Linux based and three, it comes pre-installed on this, which is probably considered cheating. Here's how to install it at home. Grab a USB, search ZimaOS. And this one, the guide right on the site, but I'll put all the stuff here, you know. If you've ever installed Windows off a stick, it's pretty much the same thing. Select the drive, flash it. Yes. Boot to BIOS and install it. Now, my friend, remember this drive. Make sure you're not having your mom on at me for 2012 Christmas photos. All. Be next. The. Access. Computers. And phones.
