Academic Vs Professional Programs!!

Have you ever asked someone about the job opportunities for a university program? And their answer was, oh, this program you can work anywhere. Well, that may be true, but the people who say this may not fully understand what they mean by. You can work anywhere and I'm going to explain. So grab your pen and paper because classes in session. So there are two types of programs in the university and they are professional and academic programs. Professional programs train you for one specific job title. Like you study nursing to become a nurse or you study law to become a lawyer. So you graduate as a practitioner. For academic programs like sociology, political science, biological science, economics, computer science and all those programs, they teach broad research and transferable skills. So most of you hear graduates in Ghana complain that I did biological science, I did political science or sociology, but there are no jobs. said that academic program was never meant to hand you a fixed job title. This is why most employers keep saying the name on the certificate is just one piece of the puzzle. Yes, it will give you the raw skills, but how to package them for an industry idea. Wow, lie. And it will shock you to know that some graduates and university students still don't know about this. Whether the program they are reading in the university is linked to a specific profession or it can be used in multiple industries. So if you're an SHS graduate seeing this right now, you don't know how lucky you are because I didn't know about this before going to the university. And I didn't even get the full concept when I got to the university. So it's really important and these are some the things I teach the SHS graduates I coach.
