Why AI isn't actually improving your workflow

In all of these what I learned at Cannes recaps, you may have noticed that one thing that is decidedly missing is the conversation about AI. And I think that's a good thing! Last year AI dominated the conversation and it was very philosophical, very like, "what is AI going to do to creativity?" But I think the fact that this attitude was missing from Cannes this year is a reflection of a broader cultural shift away from the philosophical, "oh my god, what is AI going to do to human creativity?" Towards a much more practical place. Because we've all played with the tools long enough to realize human creativity isn't going anywhere. And what's replaced it is conversations like the one that I had when I was at the Carlton for crepes and tea with the Webflow CMO, you know, just Cannes things. And he was telling me about how they are seeing customers literally choose their tool over others for building their websites because they have a very robust MCP that plugs in beautifully to any team that's already used to using AI agents in their workflows. So if you are a lean creative team who's trying to get the most out of Claude or Windsurf or Cursor, your AI will have a much easier time talking to Webflow than it will other tools. Which means instead of you having to hop in and take over for Claude because it can't do stuff. It now can change designs or interact directly with your CMS. So as you're building your tech stack, you don't want to just be looking for tools that literally have the features that can get the work done, but the ones that have strong MCPs. So that it's not just you who has to go in and use the tool, you can actually offload that work to your AI agent and then walk away for 30 minutes and come back and have something ready to go. The tools that you give your AI are just as important, if not more, than the prompts that you're giving it. It's like telling your intern to go pick up a smoothie, but then not giving them a credit card. How are they gonna do that?
