@Unbinge: Binge Eating Recovery This is actually called restriction. A lot of people think they’re being “good” by skipping meals, eating as little as possible, or trying to make up for a binge, but this is one of the biggest reasons the binge cycle continues. Restriction doesn’t just make you physically hungrier. It also makes your brain become more fixated on food, increases cravings, lowers self-control, and can make a binge feel almost impossible to resist. Recovery isn’t about punishing yourself after eating. It’s about consistently nourishing your body so it no longer feels like it has to fight for food. That’s how you break the cycle.
