Summer break is BED hell Alright, let's talk about binge eating while you're home for summer break. Because this has been a massive issue for me. I've been in recovery now, I've been dealing with binge eating for like five years. I'm assuming that a lot of you are dealing with the same stuff right now. And you know, one of the worst parts about being home is that there is literally food everywhere. Your family just like constantly wants to go out to eat. There's random snacks just popping up in the house. Someone will literally just be making like a chocolate cake at 10 PM. And obviously, they're not doing anything wrong, you know, they're living their life. But when you have BED, it feels like your brain turns every normal food situation into a fucking event. I mean, I'm doing a lot better now. I see a therapist, I use the recovery app "Unbinge". All of that has been helping me. But being back home is just so hard. Because if my family is going out to eat, and you know, I knew that I wasn't actually hungry, I still want to go. And it's not because I need food, it's because I want the food noise to stop. And sometimes, I know if I go, I'm not just going to get a normal meal and move on. I'm literally just going to turn into like I said, an event. And just keep eating, keep eating, keep eating. And then loneliness. Because when you're there, you've eaten 10,000 calories in the past hour and a half, and nobody else is there with you. You're on the couch, feeling sick to your stomach. It's just like the worst feeling in the entire world. I know that when I'm home, I do a lot better because I don't have so many events and friends always surrounding me. But when I get home, it just gets so hard. And it's so frustrating. The things that have been helping me: First of all, super simple, eating three meals a day. Like, that's like a very simple thing, but I know that if you have regular scheduled meals at like normal times, lunch, breakfast, dinner, you'll do a lot better. Number two, I've been drinking so much water that helps so much. And then number three, this one's easily the hardest. Staying busy. Boredom leads to binges. If you stay busy, if you like, do things you love, go outside, hang out with friends, lean on the people that you use for support. I promise, it makes recovery so much easier. I love you guys. Just because you're home does not excuse you to binge. I promise. You got this. I love you.
