If you saw my last video, you know we left Las Vegas to go on vacation to Hotel Xcaret Mexico. Our $2,000 a night River Jump Suite was basically a swamp and asked to be moved. The room they moved us to was the same layout, a swim up pool outside, beautiful. The only issue I had with this room is several hundred per night less expensive than the River Jump Suite. They made me sign a document saying I was forfeiting my right of the difference because this was my choice to move. I was being robbed. A thousand dollar difference, so I posted a story about it and then decided to go on with my vacation. This will be relevant in a minute. The new room was clean, same spacious layout, beautiful pool, no complaints. I just wish I'd booked it from the beginning. The issues with this room is the bathtub took about 45 minutes to fill up and by then you've lost interest in having a bath. And the air conditioner would spontaneously cut off and it was very hot here, so you would wake up during the night sweating. Guest service kept calling to make sure we were okay and happy. Around 8 PM on the first night, there was a knock at the door and a lady was standing outside. She asked if she could do anything for us. No, we just want to have a nice vacation. Thank you. She said, great, we need you to remove your post from Instagram. And her tone was dead serious. I was shocked for a minute because how did this is a major resort? I did tell her that I felt I should be able to share my experience, but I also agreed to delete the post because I'm not an idiot and I don't wanna get myself in trouble out of country. That was the last we heard from guest service. After that, they completely ignored us. The welcome breakfast and amenity we were promised by Daniel at check-in never came. The concierges that you're assigned when you check in, that seems like they're there to help you make reservations and do all the fun things, is really a high pressure sales agent whose intention is to get you to sit through a timeshare presentation. They act like they're there to take care of anything you need, but they will absolutely ghost you the minute you make it clear that you are not sitting through the presentation. Your guest experience at Xcaret is firmly based on whether or not they can extract more money from you, either through upsells or by sitting through their membership presentation. This hotel is beautiful and the food is abundant. And I believe that Xcaret leans on that to pretend like it's a luxury experience. I'm only gonna make one more video about this, the very next one, which is posting now, where they fall short of being a true luxury experience. And I'll share the parts that are actually worth it.
