Lord Jesus, thank you so much for many of the desires that you've given us.

Lord Jesus, thank you so much for many of the desires that you've given us. Thank you that you meet our desires in wholesome good ways. Protect us, Lord, from over emphasizing those desires, from blowing them out of proportion. Give us the strength to keep our desires in line with your will. Lord, particularly the issue of sexuality. It's so easy to lust, it's so easy to be overcome with our sex drive. Lord God, fill us with your Holy Spirit and grow within us the fruit of self-control. Thank you, Lord Jesus, that as we grow closer and closer to you, we learn that your good, and therefore we can submit to your authority. You've worn so clearly about lust, that it's dehumanizing and that it hurts us. Lord God, help us to view another person as a person, to view another person as a valuable human being and not to use them as a sex object in our mind to get a vicarious thrill. Lord Jesus, thank you we can love. And thank you that love builds up. Thank you that love puts the interest of the other before our own. Help us not to lust, but instead to love. Lord, help us to deny our flesh so much of it is about self-denial. Thinking about how delayed gratification can bring the greatest joy in the world. So much of the biblical story is about delayed gratification. Turn us away from our sin, turn us away from our bad habits. Help us to replace those bad habits with good habits. Help us to be able to not live in shame and guilt, but instead underneath that sin when we do fall, to know that you save us and that you give us second, third, fourth, fifth, endless amounts of chances to rebound, Lord. Thank you for that, but help us not to rationalize by thinking that well, the same time, to know that the drum beat of our lives is grace, but at the same time it's not cheap grace. But instead is turning to you in a genuine relationship. Thank you for these drives, but help us again to turn them over to you so that you can change them for your benefit and for ours in Jesus name. Amen.
