Hook

Two years ago I started drinking again after 18 months off. And I noticed this one major change in my relationship with alcohol and I wasn't sure if it was gonna stay. But now two years in, I can say confidently that it has stayed. And that is I just don't think about alcohol at all. That's not to say that I don't still drink or enjoy drinking or sometimes drink too much with my friends. But it's more that like alcohol legitimately never crosses my mind. I wasn't an at-home drinker to begin with. And you know, I might get excited for the weekend and like have a few drinks with my friends. But even if I am going out and I'm going to drink, I don't think about drinking as the main event. I think that's because over 18 months, I did every single possible event that you could do sober. Like I did weddings, I did bachelorette parties, I did vacations. I did bottomless brunches. Like I did everything sober over that 18 months. And I really like untangled that association that I had between alcohol and fun events and going out and enjoying myself. And I'm really happy to say that two years in, I still feel that exact same way about drinking and fun events and going out and enjoying myself.
