Hook

My paid mental health week off, once a quarter my company shuts down and everybody gets a paid week off in addition to our regular annual leave. As the founder something that's been surprising to me about this week off, how it has helped my mindset in terms of control. It's really challenging, I think for any business owner, any founder is letting go of the reins, like letting go of your sense of control and just being in radical acceptance in terms of like where you're at. Over several years in my business, where I wouldn't let myself have a single day off, like it could be my birthday, it could be Christmas, I could be on a European vacation with my entire family, it doesn't matter. I really believed that everything would crumble and that my business would never scale if we weren't showing up every single day. And then when I became a solo founder two and a half years ago, that's when I really had to switch my mindset around that. Even with a team, you know, the pressure on you is so much more intense than when you have co-founders. And you need that rest. For the most part, I've been using these weeks to be offline and it has really helped my mindset shift in terms of realizing not everything is urgent, not everything is an emergency and your whole business will not stop if you take a break. I feel like my mental health and nervous system are so much more stable because of it.
