Should you take Turkish Lira or British Pounds when visiting Turkey? I've done the maths so you don't have to. Watch this video to save money. If you were to walk into a popular foreign exchange service here in the U.K. and purchased 500 pounds of Turkish Lira, you would walk out with just over 28,000. Whereas if you took that same 500 British Pounds with you to Turkey and you exchanged it there at exchange services, you would walk away with just over 31,000 Turkish Lira. This is because the profit margin in the U.K. at exchange services can sit anywhere between 8% and 11%, depending where you're buying it from. Whereas when you're in Turkey, a lot more competitive, the profit margin only sits between 1 and 3%. This means you're going to get a lot more bang for your buck if you buy your Turkish Lira when in Turkey itself. Now there's lots of dos and don'ts that you need to be aware of when exchanging your currency in Turkey. So make sure you're following me because I'll post a video later today.
