Trading 212
Their other posts in the index, biggest breakout first.
I recently invested £2,500 pounds as a birthday present to myself and I think I absolutely ate with this gift. So let's talk about what I invested into and why. So I did invest into stocks using my stocks and shares ISA and the platform that I like to personally use is Trading 212. The very first investment I made was into the S&P 500. This compromises of the 500 biggest companies in America. I did want to play it safe so I did put a good amount of money in there. It's of course specifically safe because of the diversification benefits. So if one company is performing badly and the other 499 aren't, then my whole portfolio won't really be affected. As I've been building a good foundation with the S&P 500, I do feel more comfortable investing in individual stocks. The next investment I made was in Alphabet, which is Google's parent company. Now naturally because I work in tech, I do tend to invest in tech companies just because I have a better understanding of them. By the time you've seen this video, you might have seen Alphabet's recent earnings report and they did exceptionally well. They reported revenue of 119.8 billion, which was 24% higher than the same quarter last year. Google Cloud especially stands out to me because that is the cloud platform that I use as an engineer and with revenue growing 82% year on year. This just shows how much businesses are investing into cloud computing. So I think there is tremendous potential for this to grow, even more than of course. Then, of course, there's the AI right race that is going on right now. You've got Anthropic's Claude, OpenAI's Chat GPT, Apple's AI and Google's Gemini. Google Gemini stands out to me because when you think about it, we've got search, Gmail and Google has potential to integrate Gemini across all of these products. The next company I invested into was Nebius. And it's actually funny because I have invested into Nebius before, but let's just say I didn't have Diamond Hands. What I really love about Nebius is that they're actually building the infrastructure that powers AI. And you know how some people like to use the analogy of buying shovels or investing into shovels rather than diamonds. You can kind of think of Nebius as the shovels when it comes to AI. The last investment that I made, I did invest into Celsius. Shout out to my friend Pasha because she definitely influenced me. Now Celsius amongst a couple of other stocks that I've invested into sit outside the technology space. Celsius is actually a beverage business that is currently disrupting the energy market, especially in North America. They also did recently partner up with PepsiCo, which means they've been able to expand their distribution. So I do have a lot of faith in this stock. So yeah, that was my birthday present to myself.
