The content creator tax that NO ONE warns you about

When you start creating content, there's a very specific kind of tax that you have to pay. I don't know if anybody's told you about this, but it's called the visibility tax night. This tax only really kicks in about 1,000 followers. Up until then, you're free as a bird. But when you're between about 1,000 and 10,000 followers, the tax you pay is embarrassment. It is your family, your friends, people you went to school with, your colleagues, people you went on random dates with seeing your content. The thought of this tax, a lot of people off creating content cause it doesn't initially feel worth it until you get to about 10,000 followers. And when you're between 10,000 and about 100,000 followers, the tax you get is recognition. It is people feeling like they know you, maybe approaching you, maybe taking sneaky pictures of you. It's the stage where you're not really invisible anymore. Then when you're between about 100,000 and 1 million followers, the tax is judgement. It is people feeling like they know exactly who you are, even though they've probably never met you. They are talking, Reddit threads appear with your name on them. Have over 1, which I don't, but I work that do, the tax you pay is losing your narrative. It is entire community is dissecting. It is rumour spreading, it is headlines with your name on them. And again, like most other forms of tax, this is only really a problem if you haven't budgeted for it. If you have, it was coming. And the content creators that have longevity that decide what tax bracket they want to be in and really start thinking about that early on in a game of tax, it does tend to be worth it. If you have and you are profiting in a way that doesn't really make, like personally for me, I never want that level of visibility that creators with over 1 because even when somebody is mentioning me or stitching one of my videos, the heebie jeebies. If there were headlines with my name on them, I think I would pass away. So if you're starting to feel embarrassed about people, you know, seeing your content, congratulations.
