What happened in the stock market today? Three things. First, there's massive news over the weekend. The US and Iran pause their fighting and suddenly there's hope the whole war could end. And oil reacted instantly, crashing over 7% back below $90 a barrel. Why would that matter for you? Well, for weeks the fear was that war would choke off the world's oil supply and send prices and inflation soaring. All that fear has eased overnight. Cheap oil, which means cooler inflation. And cooler inflation means the Fed has more room to cut interest rates. And that relief is what lifted the Dow up 200 points today. Number two, chip stocks got hit again, and this time for a completely different reason. A Chinese state-back company just started mass producing a key piece of chip making equipment, which is the exact technology America and its allies have dominated for years. And that's kept the AI and the worry is that China can now build its own chip making machines. It doesn't need America anymore. And America loses one of its biggest advantages. So investors panicked. AMD dropped 7% and Teradyne it fell nearly 6%. And even Nvidia slid a little, dragging the whole Nasdaq lower. Number three is probably the biggest point of today. But before I get to it, make sure to drop a follow if you're enjoying this finance content as much as I am. Now, that's smart money. And third, while everybody was panicking about ships, watch what the smart money actually did. It rotated into boring reliable companies. Because today's biggest winners weren't tech. It was the industrial giant Honeywell, up 7.5% on stronger earnings. And energy firm Baker Hughes up over 8%. This is what's called rotation. When investors get a little bit nervous about the hype, they pull their money out of expensive stocks and put it into the safe, not the sexy stuff. This is obviously reinforcing the fact that investors are a little bit worried about the AI trend at the moment. Do you guys think in the comments? Let me know in the comments.
