This is exactly how I'd budget a 30,000 pound salary in the UK. Take home and where every pound should go. Quick assumptions first. Assumptions: Not financial advice. This is not financial advice. Everybody's situation is different. But let's say you're on a 4% workplace pension. The standard tax code of 1257L and student loan plan 2. So 30,000 pounds a year is roughly 2,500 a month before anything then the tax man gets involved. Income tax takes £274. National insurance takes £116. And your pension takes £79, though that one's not really lost as you're paying for your future self. And a small student loan repayment on top of that. Which leaves you with a take home of roughly £2,025 a month. £2,025 a month. That actually matters. Forget the 30k, what hits your account. Now I'd just split this three ways: Fixed, Future, Fun. Fixed expenses 50 to 60%. So up to about £1,200. That's your rent, bills, food, subscriptions, the car. If this is creeping past 60%, problem right there. Future you. Future you should be 10 to 20%. So around £200 to £400 pounds. This is savings and investing. Paying your future self. Don't spend a penny on anything fun. Fun money. 20 to 30%. Roughly 4 to 600 pounds completely guilt free. Guilt free. I'm on a budget, not broke. Because a budget you'll quit by December. Bonus would be to put 100% of your energy into pressing that follow button for more finance content.
