What happened in the stock market today? Three things. First, the sheer scale of the damage because this was not a normal down day. This was a proper blood bath. The Dow crashed over 1,150 points. That's 2.2% gone in a single session. And suffers worst day since April 2025. It's April last year. The S&P 500 dropped 1.5%. The Nasdaq fell nearly 1.8% and hundreds of billions of pounds evaporated. Why does this matter to you? Well, if you've got a pension or 1000 shares, I said days like today are exactly when the number goes red and people panic. It's been an actual brutal week. Chips crashing, AI bubble, feeds everywhere, oil creeping up. And today was the day it all boiled over. So the big question is why? She pulled the trigger. The Federal Reserve. They held interest rates steady, exactly as expected. But here's the twist nobody saw. The boat was split three ways with three officials actually wanting to raise rates. That spooked everybody because it signals the Fed might be losing their fight against inflation. Bonds yield jumped. And when yields rise, expenses start to get hammered. And that is your crash. Number three, the most brutal of them all. It's making me not check my portfolio for the next three years. But before I get to that, make sure to drop a follow. That helps me out so much. Number three, Microsoft and Meta. Both reported their earnings after the bell today. And Microsoft absolutely smashed it. Earnings came in at $4.81 dollars against the expected $4.24. A 13% beat. Revenue beat too, and its cloud business kept booming. Meta is a bit more of a mixed bag though. Revenue grew a massive 28% and beat expectations. But its profit missed badly. Earnings came in 14% below forecast because its costs are exploding as it pours tens of billions into AI. Here's the real test. Even with Microsoft crushing it, if these stocks still get sold, it tells you everything. Because right now, after the week we've had, the market is punishing anything that hints the AI spending isn't paying off yet. What do you guys think? Let me know in the comments.
