Nobody in the homeschool space wants to say this, but four years of high school is not a requirement. It's a habit. It's a habit we inherited from a system that we left. Your kid does not need a year of world history or anatomy or a year of geometry. They don't need those things. Our twins are in college. They have jobs, businesses, all before they could drive. Our youngest is heading to flight school studying the SAT and will likely be college ready at 12. He already has his own business. He knows woodworking, leatherworking. He's 10! And this is all not because we followed the system better. It's because we stopped following it altogether. Just completely quit high school and middle school. I thought the most countercultural thing I could do as a homeschool mom was pulling our kids from school. It wasn't. It's actually letting them be free once we did. Our kids don't have to wait until 18 to start their real life. Nobody told me that, so I'm telling you.
