Stop marrying someone that you need to raise. I'm going to say something that will upset a lot of people. Marriage is not an adoption. Stop marrying adults that need parenting. If you have to constantly remind them to work, to keep their promises, to tell the truth, uh, to be responsible, to respect you even, you know, to to to do other stuff. You're not building marriage. You're raising an adult. I've watched husbands become fathers to wives. I've watched wives become mothers to husbands. Neither relationship lasts happily because eventually the parent becomes exhausted and the child becomes resistant. Marriage only works when two adults meet each other. Not when one becomes the project of the other. Love someone, support someone, encourage someone but don't confuse support with raising them. Now because if you have to raise a person you married. Don't be surprised when they stop treating you like a spouse and start treating you like a parent. Ultimately, people or some people rather are marrying children out there and they're raising children without even knowing and that is why some marriages spouses get tired.
