Is this allowed? A couple of car YouTubers are getting in trouble for what they did to a Jeep at the LA Auto Show. They have just exposed the build quality of this new $65,000 car. So Jeep just unveiled the new fully electric Recon. It's a rugged new EV meant to go up against the Hummer and the Rivian. The new truck was on display at the LA Auto Show last week with the public could get their hands on it. Well, one TikTok page called The Middle Lane posted a viral video of them doing just that. In this video, the creators can be seen absolutely dumping on the interior of the new Recon. They point out misaligned pieces and panel gaps harp on all the plastic and reattaching plastic panels all in the spirit of testing build quality. The video went viral and people were commenting that this is unacceptable for a $65,000 brand new car. And they would be right. But Stelantis, parent company of Jeep, had something to say about this. They saw the video and they responded. The vehicle in this video is a pre-production show car built exclusively for reveals and events. The prototypes are hand-built and do not demonstrate the final production quality. That's rich coming from Stelantis. Going over to the comment section, "Hear me out... don't you send the best version of your product to an expo? That's what I would think. Once you bring your best car to a show, they're mad because they were called out. They expose nothing. Everyone knows Jeep quality under Stelantis is horrendous." And I thought "hand-built" meant "better quality".
