Hey, I'm Tia and I'm an NHS nurse and this is how I'm building financial freedom in my 20s because I do not want to wait to retirement to have control over my time and I'm not waiting till I'm 70 to retire. So for me personally, I never really learned about money and my financial habits were honestly awful. I had no plan of where my money was going each month. I was just living paycheck to paycheck. I had no financial goals and I wasn't building any sort of wealth for myself. I think in my head, I thought I needed to earn more to save more, but financial freedom isn't about earning more. It's just about being intentional with the money you already have. So you do not need to be earning loads of money and doing these things. And I'm living proof of that. Firstly, I think this is so important, but you need to build an emergency fund and I've had to deal with this before where I started saving and then my car broke, I needed to pull out my savings and that was honestly heartbreaking. And also, if you're an investor, you're saving for a long time, you do not want to be pulling that money out in an emergency. So build an emergency fund and then we can start the rest. Secondly, I started investing. So this time last year, I had zero invested and now I've built a portfolio of maybe 10k and this is in a year. So I keep it simple with index funds because I am focused on long-term growth, very much stocks, little index fund and leave it there and hopefully the growth will speak for itself. I'm also using a lifetime ISA to work towards buying a house and also taking advantage of the government bonus. If you pay 4k into it a year, the government will give you 1k back. Finally, I've built systems around my money. So every payday, everything savings get taken out straight away. And I've even used AI to create my own budget tracker. I'm still learning, documenting my journey of building wealth and more freedom in my 20s. If you guys are interested, follow along if interested.
