In my experience, the earlier you disappoint your African parents, the better, bro. I can't lie. Look at me. I always used to feel, I'm gonna turn 22 now, but I've been like this since I was 18, bro. Like tattoos, piercings, hair, like I just been doing what I want. I always like when I was younger, it was harder. I definitely used to be the topic of many WhatsApp conversations, people back home in my city, Calabar, talking, man, I just don't know what's going on with the. The, you know, it's drying, marking all over his body and he's doing this and that and that. But it's freed me up to be myself completely. And now whenever my folks see me working hard, you know, finishing up school, grinding, making money, like accomplishing things in life, they're proud. Now they're seeing, like I never was, like I never was just this rebellious, like guy who doesn't want to accomplish greatness. I just wanted to accomplish greatness while also being myself and expressing myself.
