The time is going to pass anyways

And when I was 18, I told my Nigerian dad I would never study medicine because it would take me six years to complete, and six years is too long. Now here I am at 24, in a five-year electrical apprenticeship, because I realized one thing: the time is going to pass anyways. And I'd rather be 27 and a fully qualified electrician than be 27 and bouncing around from career to career, still trying to figure out what I want to do with my life. And if I could go back in time, I still wouldn't study medicine because I didn't get good enough grades. But I wouldn't be as scared to dedicate a longer portion of my youth to learning a skill or earning a degree or learning a trade that will set me up financially for the rest of my life. The amount of people I hear say, I wanna go back to nursing school, I wanna go back to law school, but I'm too old, I'm 27 now. You're gonna be 45 anyways, so you might as well do it and set yourself up for financial success.
