Alright everybody

Alright everybody, this is it I can't hardly believe it. It's a very special day and I mean special. It's my last day of trauma call ever. No more getting up in the middle of the night every hour almost on the hour like I did last night. You know, I started taking trauma call as a third-year medical student almost 40 years ago and I watched a young teenage girl die under my hands while I was doing chest compressions and that changed me forever. But you know through the years, all the countless lives that I've saved by being a neurosurgeon. I mean I learned there's a fine line between life and death and that's something that's always gonna live with me. But for now I'm really looking to having time for myself, sleeping through the night without getting woken up. Yeah, I'm gonna miss it, but you know as you get older, um, it's hard on your body. I can't stay up all these hours and stay up all night. It's just physically hard. And so I know it's time. Everybody knows when their time is and my time is now and I am so excited because I got a whole future ahead of me and I'm gonna get to sleep in because, you know, a 62-year-old man needs his rest, right?
