this may be a mistake, but I have to try. i made this whale shark that glows thanks to these lights. but this comment asked That's so cool, how about painting the inside/ walls of the stars with glow-in-the-dark? @themidorihouse Hmmmm I could try that and ☁️, glow in the dark glaze. you may be thinking, why didn't you just use that from the start? I've used this before a bunch of times, and every single time I've used it, everyone hates it. but if the glaze is only going on the inside of the piece and on the stars and spots, then maybe no one will hate it. I'm also gonna make sure and set yall's expectations ahead of time. this is what the glow in the dark glaze actually looks like. it's more of a bioluminescent situation than straight up glow in the dark like the stars you put on your wall as a kid. so with that, let's get glazing. the most important thing with this glaze is to keep it mixed, as the glow in the dark particles tend to be quite heavy and can easily sink to the bottom. while most of the glow in the dark is going on the inside of the whale shark, i did go ahead and get white, all of the stars and spots, as well as giving him a few additional spots as well. then he told me he wanted some milk, which means it was time to glaze the inside and this was obviously quite difficult, just getting the paintbrush in there and trying to get all the spots as the glaze is white and the entire inside of the whale shark is white. but with a little perseverance, i was able to get it done, cleaned up any of the glaze that got all over his mouth, closed it up, waited for it to dry and found him a friend to go outside to the kiln. this glaze is a little bit different than my typical glazes as it needs to be fast fired to cone 06, so quite a cool temperature and also very quickly. so after loading him back in the kiln for the fourth time, i wished him luck, closed up the kiln we will have results.
