If you're flying to the UK from the US this year, don't board your flight until you watch this. Americans are showing up to the gate right now with a pending ETA. And then they're getting denied boarding. They're not getting denied at customs or in London, they're getting denied at the gate before they even leave the US. People are missing flights and having to rebook. Some are finding out their whole itinerary is completely shot. Simply over a travel document that used to be simple and easy, but now it's glitching. I've been tracking the UK ETA since it rolled out. When it launched, it was really smooth. You just apply online, you're approved under 48 hours, and that's it. But now that it's mandatory in 2026 and travel season is picking up, the system's been crashing out. Applications are actually stuck in limbo. People are thinking that it went through, but in fact, it never went through. So here's the fix, and this is what you need to do. First of all, if you haven't applied yet, do not apply the week of your trip. When you're approved, you're going to get an approval email with your ETA number. Most importantly, check gov.uk directly. This is going to confirm that it's actually approved and attached to your passport. Now, this isn't an adjust-in-case step. This is an absolute must if you're going to England, Scotland, or Northern Ireland. Share this with anyone traveling to the UK this year, and follow along for more tips to make travel easier.
