1. My classroom. I wanted parents to walk in and immediately feel like, “My child is going to love being here.” Meanwhile, I was overthinking every little detail. 2. The information folders. I reorganized them more times than I’d like to admit. I was convinced they had to be absolutely perfect… as if anyone was grading my packet. 3. How hungry I was. Teachers here had been working nonstop since 8 a.m. setting up, planning, and getting everything ready. By the time families arrived, I was running on caffeine and good intentions. 4. My outfit, hair, and makeup. I spent so much time making sure everything else was ready that I barely had time to get myself ready. Then I stood there thinking how much I hated my outfit. 5. Making a good first impression. I wanted every parent to leave knowing their child was in good hands, and I put so much pressure on myself to say all the right things. Looking back, I realize I didn’t need to stress over any of it. The classroom didn’t have to be perfect. The folders didn’t have to be perfect. My outfit didn’t have to be perfect. It’s not that serious. I hope I remember this next year 😅 . . . #teacher #backtoschoolnight #teaching
