While editing, I realized that the draw tool can actually be animated. That gave me an idea. First, record one clip with your hand empty, then record another clip holding a cup of coffee. Next, move the timeline to the beginning of the second clip. Open text, select draw and choose this brush. You can zoom into the frame. Use the color picker to sample the color of the object, then trace around the entire object with the draw tool. After that, open animation, choose order in, and extend the duration to 2.8 seconds. Then move the drawing layer underneath the first clip. Finally add this pop sound effect at the transition between the two clips. Now you have this effect.
