It's so hard to find a job in social media marketing. This is gonna piss a lot of people off. But it needs to be said, it's no secret that the social media marketing industry is so over saturated and it's so hard to get a good paying job. But some of y'all should not be applying for these job positions. If you can't tell me what a V.O. is, you don't know what S.E.O. means. You have no social media presence, like, at all. You haven't posted since, like, 2016. Or if you tell me that you like to edit all of your videos on TikTok and that's the only thing that you know how to use, do not complain that you're not getting hired because you're under qualified. Or if you don't know that there's a difference between a story format and a feed format. Like, I'm sorry, maybe. Maybe I'm just a little irritated because I own a social media agency and I get so many applications where it's literally just a five sentence email and it's someone saying that they want to be a content creator and they would love to work with me, which is amazing. No phone number, no Instagram linked, no portfolio. Like, honestly. I really don't care about your experience or if you graduated college or where you're working at now. I want to see what you can make. I'm not talking about the girls out there that are, like, trying new editing styles, working so hard, applying to hundreds of jobs and like, have spent so much time on a beautifully made portfolio. I'm talking about everyone else that's submitting applications to the same job that you are, and they're making your application get lost. I don't know. I think it's just like, mind blowing to me. I don't know.
