if you are looking for a Marketing job at the moment then my goodness I am so sorry because yet again I have come across the most ridiculous job spec on LinkedIn that I wanted to share with you today so this is the job spec it starts with if you look at the bottom it says previous experience as Marketing executive or as a Marketing assistant ready to step up hmm but the first thing that really stood out to me is the first bit at the top which says help develop and implement marketing plans this is for a marketing executive role you should not be developing marketing plans or marketing strategy at this stage like that is something a head of marketing or marketing manager does not a marketing executive and this is a prime example of a business cutting corners trying to get junior marketers to do the whole sha-bang which is just so unfair then on top of that you're expected to manage multiple channels which you see here creating marketing copy creating content blogs videos maintaining the websites multiple company websites LinkedIn company intranet I haven't seen that since the 90s so I just ignore that if I were you organise attend events such as conferences which also by the way take a huge amount of effort to organise sure okay fine they're outsourcing some of their elements so PR digital and design to an agency but they're still expecting you to have some experience of liaising with them which again is something you probably do is a marketing manager with 5 years under your belt but the last thing I just wanna talk about on here which is ridiculous is track marketing performance return on investment and prepare weekly and monthly reports for management again that is something a marketing lead does not something a junior marketing executive does so this is just what is wrong with the industry at the moment and unfortunately this was one of multiple jobs facts that I came across if you have questions about what you should be including in your CV or the type of jobs that you should be applying to or you just have general questions about hiring within marketing drop me a note either a DM or even just like comment in the comments um I'm more than happy to help whoever I possibly can
