These are the top five high yield savings accounts for August 2026, starting with number five, which is the American Express High Yield Savings Account, which is a great starter account. Honestly, I've had it for quite some time. The rates used to be a lot better, but there's still zero minimum fees, $0 to open, and no monthly maintenance fees. So still a great high yield savings. Number four is gonna be Barclays. They actually have a tiered savings account structure. Um, 3.65 is only for the highest tier. Most people are only gonna get 3.5 APR on this, but still better than Amex right now, and there's a $200 bonus right now. Uh, for depositing over 25,000. Number three is Marcus by Goldman Sachs savings account. I've had this one for quite some time as well. Um, you can earn a good amount of APY with the standard base, but you can also do a referral type situation. I referred multiple people and was able to get plus one APY. It used to be where you could do it for a whole year. Now it's about three months. You can get that extra APY for referring. I also have my link in my bio if you want to get referred by me, but you can get referred by anybody who has a Marcus by Goldman Sachs account. Both Marcus and Barclays don't have any monthly maintenance fees. Number two is Ally Bank. It's a great HYSA. Ultimately, they have no monthly maintenance fees, no opening balance requirements, none of that. And they also have a cool feature, buckets feature where you can analyze your checking account that's connected to your Ally banking account, which I think is pretty cool. Um, I will note though that you can only withdraw from your account 10 times a month if that is a factor for anybody. And number one, finally, is the SoFi High Yield Savings account, which has a special promotion going on where you can get $400 extra with a qualifying direct deposit and an extra point seven on the normal 3.1 APY. You can open up the checking and the savings at the same time. There is a two-day early paycheck feature on the checking account. There's no minimum balance requirements and there's no monthly maintenance fees and there's overdraft protection. The accounts I personally recommend are LinkedIn, my bio, and you can find them at stand out store slash scholarship junkie. Let me know what other high yield saving accounts you guys are using in the comments.
