I've got 7 PowerShell commands

I've got 7 PowerShell commands that every IT pro should memorize right now. These are not the ones that everybody already posts about. So save these PowerShell commands. Number one, Test-NetConnection host - Port 443. This is ping and Telnet in one command. Test-NetConnection, the hostname, dash port, and a port number. And whether that host is up and whether that port is actually more open. No more installing Telnet just to find out if 443 is listening. Two, Get-NetTCPConnection. This is Netstat, but way better. Because it hands you the owning process ID for every single connection. Pipe that into Get-Process and now you know exactly which program has that weird port open. If somebody calls you and says their machine is beaconing out to something, this command that puts a name on it in about 10 seconds. And it's built in already. So you're not installing anything on a box you don't already trust. Three, Select-String. This is grep for Windows. And it's been sitting there the entire time. You just point it at a folder with dash pattern and a word, and it pulls every matching line from every file number. Stop opening log files one at a time. No. Four, Get-Content app.log -Wait. This is gonna get your life. Get-Content, the file path, dash tail. It sits on a log file and prints new lines the moment they're written. You can watch a service fail in real time instead of refreshing notepad like some kind of animal. Five, Get-FileHash setup.exe. Compare against the vendor's published hash on their website. If those match, you did not get the file that they shipped. Takes seconds. If you saw my Notepad plus video a while back, this is the command that would have told you shot installer one. Six, Get-Process, pipe it into Out-GridView. Task manager, upgraded. It opens a real, sortable window, filter box you can actually type in. Get-Process piped into Out-GridView is task manager but with superpowers. Nobody knows it's there, but you do. No. And seven, Get-Command *service*. This is how you stop memorizing PowerShell commands. Run Get-Command with a wildcard like star service star and PowerShell lists every single command that touches services. You don't need to know all of them all the time. You just need to know how to find them. Get-Command will help you do that. Save all these seven to your USB toolkit and follow if you like nerdy stuff.
