From the bottom of my heart, this one was different. Salute to my guy Jim Thome, man. If you’re from Cleveland, you understand. Meeting him just hits different. We started with a handshake, and I had to joke with him, “Man, I wanted to kidnap you when you went to Philly… but you’re a pretty big dude, so I don’t think that would’ve worked out.” 😂 I had him sign my Indians Starter jacket alongside Carlos Baerga, with his epic home run left/right field inscription, Charlie Sheen with the “Wild Thing” inscription, and Super Joe Charbonneau. Then I had Mr. Thome add “Only Indian in the 600 HR Club.” That inscription means something. Six hundred home runs is one of baseball’s most exclusive clubs, and Jim Thome is still the only player to hit that milestone while playing for Cleveland. It was an honor meeting one of the greatest players to ever wear a Cleveland uniform. Salute to Jim Thome.
