POV vacation days in the US vs France

It's because I'm on vacation, so I can legally ignore you. Oh, I thought you said last week that you'd be on vacation at the end of August. Yes, et alors? So are you then on vacation at the beginning of the month and at the end? Yes, the beginning, middle and end. Also known as the whole month. How do you even do that? Have you been saving your vacation days for like three years? No, this is normal in France. Nobody works in August because we have a minimum five weeks of vacation per year. And many people have more than that. Five weeks? That's more than my sick days and vacation combined. Huh? Sick days? What? Sick days? What is this? Uh, you know like, it's vacation days, but for how many days you're allowed to be sick every year? Allowed? This makes no sense. So if you don't have any days left, then you're sick, you come into work and get everyone else sick. Pretty much. That's disgusting. In France, if you're sick, you get a note from the doctor and you stay home. That does make sense, doesn't it? If I were you, I would get everyone together, put some manure in the streets, light some dumpsters on fire. What? Why? Because in France, that's how we negotiate more vacation.
