A nurse in Australia used jiu-jitsu to fight off a patient who attempted to assault him in October 2024. Daniel Nelson, a registered nurse with the Australian Army, posted the video to LinkedIn to raise awareness about the dangers that are often posed to healthcare workers. According to an Australian Workers Union survey conducted this year, 69% of Queensland healthcare workers had experienced or witnessed an assault in the workplace. Nelson stated that he had more than 10 years of Brazilian jiu-jitsu training, which gave him an advantage when a patient attacked him. However, he noted that the majority of healthcare workers would not have been able to defend themselves in this situation. The patient was reportedly fined $450 after pleading guilty to common assault. #Australia #Nurse #Healthcare #CCTV
