12-year-old girl invents solar-powered blanket to keep homeless people warm ❤️☀️ A 12-year-old student from Glasgow has invented a solar-powered heated blanket designed to protect homeless people from freezing winter temperatures. Rebecca Young came up with the idea after seeing people sleeping rough in subzero conditions. Her design beat more than 70,000 entries to win a UK Primary Engineer competition, before engineering company Thales UK helped turn her concept into a working prototype. The waterproof and flame-retardant blanket folds into a lightweight backpack and uses flexible solar panels to store energy during the day. The stored power can then provide up to eight hours of warmth after sunset. The project shows how a young inventor’s simple idea could potentially make a huge difference to people sleeping rough during the coldest months of the year. 📸 SWNS #ThisIsMoney #Money #News #UK
