We always said that we would know when the time came that we could no longer care for Baba at home. And unfortunately, that time has come. For the last three and a half years, I've had the honor of caring for my husband's grandmother, Baba, who has dementia. When we moved her into our home, we had no idea what the future would look like. We just knew that she was family and we wanted to take care of her. These years have given us some of the most beautiful memories and some of the hardest ones. But I truly wouldn't change any of it. My kids learned so much from having Baba here about love, patience, empathy, and what it means to care for someone. But dementia takes so much from a person and eventually, it started taking too much from our family too. Agitation became more frequent and our kids were seeing and experiencing things that were becoming really difficult for them. And as much as I wanted to keep caring for her at home, I've always said that my children come first. Their home needs to be their safe place. So while we were away in Hershey, we as a family, including Ryan's parents, made the incredibly difficult decision to move Baba into a nursing home where she can receive the level of care she needs. I felt like a failure so many times, but deep down, I know I'm not. I gave her everything I could and loved her with my whole heart. Thank you to this community for being there through this journey with us. We love you and hope you continue to follow our little family. Baba is still our family. We'll continue to love her, visit her, care for her, and share updates on her as we can. I don't know what this next chapter will look like, but I know I want to keep creating and sharing our story with you. Thank you for loving our little family and especially for loving our Baba.
