James Gunn has given me a Wonder Woman fan zero reasons to care about James Gunn's DCU. And I have zero reasons to care about the DCU at all. In fact, the DCU concerns me more than anything. As a Wonder Woman fan, I have no faith in it. No, I do not care about your fan cast. However, I will say this. I do not want Adria Arona to play Wonder Woman. I think James Gunn has cast her as Wonder Woman that is completely nepotism and favoritism. And I do not like that. Because we have a history of that right now in the James Gunn DCU where he favors his friends. However, I don't like discussing fan casts because, frankly, we have discussed real-life women and we are objectifying them based on their looks, their height, their weight, their appearance. And the discussions around that are inherently incredibly toxic and I do not want to be involved in that. And one of the most toxic parts to me is how people talk about these women's ages. When we talk about people being cast, you're like, no, she's too old, she'll be too old. This is not okay that Ben Affleck was hired when he was older. It's completely okay that Ben Affleck was hired when he was older. There seems to be this double standard for when women and men are hired. And this is something I just do not involve myself with because it creates so much drama. And a lot of you were not around when Gal Gadot was initially cast as Wonder Woman. The discussions around that were incredibly toxic. And then she first appeared, the switch-up was crazy. People loved her as Wonder Woman. And obviously, since then, things have dramatically changed, but that's a whole other can of worms. Next, let's talk about the script and the writing. This is the most important thing to me. To have a successful movie, you have to have a good script, good screenplay, good writing, whatever. The world has to be good. Supergirl, we had an incredibly talented group of actors and actresses. And that script absolutely failed them. Millie Alcock was not the problem. She was phenomenal as Supergirl. However, that script absolutely failed her. James Gunn has given me zero reason to care about his DCU, especially as a Wonder Woman fan. I actually feel like he doesn't understand Diana as a character at all. And he's hoping the people around him, or they make this character work because his comments reflect someone who doesn't understand the character. When he compares her clay origin to the Superman symbol, I was shocked. And when he also made a flippant remark about how the clay origin isn't really that important and he likes the daughter of Zeus origin, I was like, okay, we have someone who really doesn't understand the character. And that concerns me. But something that does sit at the back of my mind when it comes to the DCU is Tom King being tied to so many projects. Whether you like it or not, Tom King has tied to the DCU. And because he's been writing Wonder Woman, what type of effect is that going to have on his whole thing? Is he going to have a say on what happens? That is something that we have to think about. And if you're going to be okay with that, because I certainly am not. And when it comes to the physical appearance of Diana in the movies, her costume, I'm actually not concerned about. I feel like we will get the classic costume. We've seen how Superman looks. We've seen Supergirl. I think we will get a bright classic costume. That is the least of my concerns. My concerns revolve around the writing and the character portrayal because right now, I don't think Gunn gets Wonder Woman at all. I don't think he gets it. I often talk about wanting more Wonder Woman media. However, that media has to be good. I do not want bad Wonder Woman media or something that portrays the character badly because in the end, it damages her reputation long-term. Now, look, I know a lot of people are going to say you sound toxic, you sound incredibly negative. This and that. However, this is the reality for me. I, as a Wonder Woman fan, really have no care for James Gunn's DCU and the way James Gunn speaks about Diana, the way he uses like supporting cast, really reflects someone who doesn't really care for the character. And that concerns me. And I really don't think we're getting Wonder Woman movie. I don't think we're getting Paradise Lost. And I'll be shocked if we do get them. But I'd rather have no media than bad media because bad media can be damaging to a character's reputation long-term.
