Five reasons why I do not place my competitive dancers strictly on their age. No. 1. I recently saw a post that said that kids are like microwave popcorn, and that could not be more true. When you put popcorn in the microwave, all the kernels do not pop at the same time. They all have their own time to shine while they're in the microwave, and that's the same way that dancers are. No. 2. I want my dancers to have the recognition and the attention that they deserve. Grouping together kids that have similar skill sets and strengths and weaknesses is so much more beneficial than just grouping a group of kids together because of the same age. Number three. Younger dancers do not deserve to be held back just because they're young. No. 4. Older dancers do not deserve to be overwhelmed if they're not at that with some people that are their age. And no. 5. Sorry if this upsets some people, but this is a competitive sport. Not everything is going to be fair. Let me know if you agree or disagree with me down in the comments. Have a great day! Bye!
