Part 7 of crocheting a life-size baby giraffe for my son’s nursery! 🦒🌱 Officially 9 months pregnant and the countdown is on!! Luckily I only have the neck and head left, hopefully I can finish them asap! #crochet #jumbo #pregnant A lot of you commented saying I should wrap the wooden pieces since they are sharp and I honestly couldn’t agree more. I got some pool noodles and towels from Walmart and I tried to see if that did the trick. Pool noodles actually fit perfectly over the wooden pieces in the middle and I secured them with some twist ties. I then used the towels for the corner pieces of the wood and my husband secured them with nails. I then got to work on closing up the body. I had to do 40 rounds of decreases and alternated between sitting on my chair, standing and just doing whatever I could to stay comfortable while crocheting. I also kept stuffing the body as I went to make sure everything was even. Finally, I was down to the last few rounds and oh my gosh, it felt so amazing to close the body up and be done with it. I was nervous the body wouldn’t look proportional but it looks perfect. And of course, I had to sit on the giraffe because why not? I’m excited for part 8 when I start crocheting the neck.
