I feel like once every couple of years I go through a really bad bout of insomnia and I'm currently going through that right now and I am literally miserable. It's been about a month. It's getting a little bit better. I'm learning how to manage it. This is everything I keep on my nightstand that has been helping me. First, I do have a break and I do have my phone on a schedule where I get broken out of my phone every single night at 8 PM and I notice such a difference. The weekend, I do not break myself out. I notice it's significantly harder for me to fall asleep. So I usually keep this on my fridge, not on my nightstand, that way I cannot break myself out in the middle of the night if I wake up. I have to physically get out of bed to be woken from my phone. Second, I do take magnesium glycinate. I've been doing this for years regardless of if I have insomnia or not. Fun fact, most calming or like sleep products that you'll find at like Target or regular stores typically has magnesium citrate, which is actually a diuretic. Magnesium glycinate is what will actually make you sleepy and help you rest. Two of these every night. I also have a hatch alarm clock that you probably can't see right now. Two clicks on my nighttime settings, it turns on a heavy brainstorm at 35 volume. Me and Tyler both actually sleep better with that on. So that I just become a better sleeper. So I have my Kindle. I used to be a lot better about this, but when I used to wake up in the middle of the night and be unable to go back to sleep, I would read and it would put me immediately back to sleep. So I am sticking this literally right here in the hopes that I will start doing that again because that does help a lot. So I have this very fancy weighted eye mask. I don't even know how to explain it, but it just feels like a warm hug. Feels so relaxing. My insomnia specifically, I'm a very sleepy girl. I have no issue falling asleep. The issue is that I'm very sensitive to literally anything happening around me. So like Tyler rolling over in bed, or Tyler's on his phone, any noise or inconvenience, I'm immediately up. And last but not least, if I wake up in the middle of the night and I am struggling to fall back to sleep, I'm just getting very frustrated because that is also something that happens to me where I do wake up and I almost can't go back to sleep because I'm irritated that I did wake up. Does that make sense? So I bring in my reinforcements. These are 10 milligrams, usually just taking a very small bite of this will get me back to sleep within like 20 to 30 minutes. It's an entire ritual, but that's where I'm at. Sleeping soundly tonight. Consider yourself lucky.
