Hook
When I say I want to be alone, my wife doesn't count, WE want to be alone. There's a very big difference there. When I say I don't want to be around anybody today, my wife's not included in that. She's included in that isolation. Because I'm not talking about her being around, or her is different than being around all these people. There's no random conversations, I don't have to plan ahead, there's no expectations. I don't have to try to entertain anybody or talk to people that I don't want to talk to or I've never even met before. And honestly, we don't even have to have a conversation. We don't have to be on the couch, but on opposite sides. We could each be doing our own things for multiple hours. Maybe she's reading a book, doing scrolling, maybe watching a movie, watching a TV series. Maybe we're doing it together. It doesn't really matter because I'm not alone, but I want to be alone. And she doesn't count as being alone. I'm sure a lot of people can relate to that. Maybe for you, it's your significant other, it's your friend, it's your family member, whatever else. But you know what I mean. The best is when we have plans that we made and sounded really good at the time, but then they get canceled at the last minute. And then we can just do our own thing. Like, wait, they're canceled? Okay, great. Now we can do what we actually want to do, which is nothing. And that's one of the best parts about being someone for so long. We've been together for over 13 years now. We started dating in ninth grade. So we can just shut our brains off. We can just relax. We're not technically alone because we do have each other.
