£3 7s 5d a week in 1967 may sound unbelievable today, but it gives a fascinating glimpse into London’s housing history. The 1967 film Somewhere Decent to Live documented Londoners discussing their homes, rents and satisfaction with council housing during a major period of redevelopment.
