I don't know how we all decided that this was the universal language. My favorite thing is when Black people find out that you are good at something and they just repeat that word twice. So it typically happens to me when people find out that I ski. So they'll be like, oh, where do you like to ski? And I'll say France. And they'll be like, oh, so you ski ski? Like for whatever reason, saying it twice in a row, that means you're serious. Like you're locked in. You're not a beginner, you're not novice. You're not here for a good time, you're here for a long time actually. You swim swim or you cook cook. That means you are serious. And everyone just understands that. And I just love that about us.
